As anyone who has followed this page can tell you, I am a HUGE fan of GLOCK pistols. Especially in 9mm Caliber. Fitting that I carry not one but two of them with me daily and can find you numerous witnesses that don't work for me to confirm that for you.
Most people here what I'm about to type spouted off all the time and I know it gets old hearing that "Oh, I carry a full size fighting pistol and a backup gun everywhere I go." and you're right that does get old, especially considering how many people say that online and don't actually do so.
Yes... I actually do carry a Glock 17 WITH A WEAPON MOUNTED LIGHT every day. I also carry two backup guns, one a Glock and the other (tertriary) a NAA cap-and-ball .22 revolver. The Backup Glock is not what you'd expect to hear at first sound.... my backup gun is a Glock 19.
You read that right.
Both Glocks are identical internally. They both have ZEV Tech Standard Power Striker Springs, Reduced Power Firing Pin Safety Springs, and Trigger Springs along with Lone Wolf Maritime Spring Cups.
Externally they have similar practices done to them, yet are far from identical, reflecting their uniquely different missions.
DUTY GLOCK 17
What they both have is a grip cut one size down and a very aggressive undercut of the trigger guard.
My 17 has the grip cut to a 19 length and the 19C is cut to a 26 length.
The 19C's grip is stippled decently and the 17 is slated to get a really aggressive stippling job done on it as soon as my stippling guy (I'm nowhere near patient enough) gets a day free.
I do intend to replace the slide on the 17 with one from Unity Tactical as their ATOM mount. I do intend to ditch Unity's notch-and-post irons for suppressor height XS Big Dots and the optic is planned to be an RMR. If I do this to my 19C a new solid barrel is a must.
I carry the 17k in either a home-made (No picture because it's friggin' ugly) holster, a shoulder rig I got in a trade then cut for the light to fit, or a Safariland 6378 ALS Holster with QLS and ALS Guard.
The 19Ck is carried in a Blackhawk! Nylon ankle holster on the inside of my left leg butt to the rear, my OOAK Speed Scabbard originally made for my 17, or in a Tagua clip on leather IWB holster.
For the record, the little NAA goes in the change/watch pocket of my jeans.
I am attaching links from MidwayUSA to all the parts I use in my GLOCK pistols here:
XS Big Dot Sights (I can't recommend these highly enough, folks)
Lone Wolf Maritime Spring Cups
ZEV Technologies Competition Trigger Spring
ZEV Technologies Reduced Power Firing Pin Safety Spring
ZEV Technologies Standard Power Striker Spring
GLOCK Extended Slide Stop
GLOCK Extended Mag Release
Lone Wolf Extended Slide Stop
Purpose for mods:
I like the extended controls. I know some don't and they're right I don't NEED them at all but I just like them.
The light is to illuminate a probable target, not for searching, and is a weapon in and of itself.
And again, the XS Sights are just plain fast and anyone who says they're inaccurate either can't shoot or is a liar. They aren't as accurate as many notch-and-post type sights, sure enough but they are faster and if I can get solid hits in the vital zones faster, this is a good thing, no?
All internal mods make the trigger feel better to me.
The grip cut is obviously to enhance concealability.
The undercut allows a higher grip which enhances accuracy and recoil control.
The stippling allows for better grip purchase on the weapon.
That's it for today folks.
Hope all of y'all have a good one.
